On a pleasant day, at dawn,
Girl child, thou was born.
With twinkling eyes and sparkling mind,
Into a world not so kind.
Grew you did, with love and care,
To speak out and forth, you didn't dare.
You are indeed smart my dear,
Why you concede to live in fear?
Into the place of learning you went,
But to the one round the corner, where you were sent.
Coz you are a tender darling, they said,
And should be looked after, until you are wed.
The wedding, yes lavishly happened,
On you, heaps of gold burdened.
Stay at home and rest my love, said he,
Coz I am the man, and will fend for thee.
You indeed, questioned never,
Chose to just agree forever.
To smile and be and not to complain,
Its hard to not go insane.
You have studied and all,
Do something than stare at the wall,
Now said he after some time passed.
Never bothering what turmoil he caused.
And so you went, to work every day,
And at home too slogged each day.
Seeing your little baby grow,
Always did ease your tired brow.
Time does fly, and flies fast,
Looking after your children was gone and past.
They now looked at you with a frown,
At the woman, with no penny of her own.
Then you saw the darkness over you,
You yourself had plunged into that black hole
Yes, that’s true
For you chose to bend your eyes,
And held to yourself, your cries.
For you chose to not question,
And to take any a burden.
For you chose to shut yourself,
In the end you lost your self.
